Since I’m in a new city, I’m all about trying new things and exploring the city that I just moved to. And by city, I feel like I mean small county because LA is huge and sprawling and there’s so much to do and see. I don’t think there’s ever going to be enough time in the world to see everything in this city alone, but I’m going to try to see as much as I can.
This will be a new series in my blog that is going to be based around all the new things I get to try in LA.
Here it is goes:
- Escape room. I have always been slightly terrified of these escape rooms. I don’t like suspense, I don’t like being scared and I don’t like being trapped. So deciding that I was going to do an escape room is definitely not something I ever thought I would want to do. At the same time, I do love puzzles. So I agreed to do an escape room with some friends over in West Hollywood. It’s intense because you are trapped in a room and you don’t have a good starting point. They just set you loose and you try to figure it out. We managed to escape with a few minutes to spare but there were definitely moments where I screamed because everyone else screamed and it was suspenseful. I hate being a contagious screamer but it’s an unfortunate characteristic. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is on the fence. Especially because they are all themed so it’s interesting.
- Beach life. This includes doing actual beach games. When I was not living near a beach, and I thought about going to the beach – it meant laying in the sun on the sand and basking in the sunlight. Usually followed by a nap. Here, beach life means being super active like playing beach volleyball and spike ball or even throwing a football around. It’s crazy seeing how packed the non-tourist beaches are in LA. They are packed full of people running and playing sports. I definitely recommend it.
- The Hollywood Hike. Everyone should do the Hollywood Sign hike. There are a few different routes for the hike but they all lead to the sign and it’s totally worth it. You get a fantastic view over the entire city and it’s nice to be away from cars and above the skyline.
This is just the start of things that I’m trying out. I’ll keep you posted on the next things I check out.
